How Normal SEO Works
Step 1 – Keyword research – you need to find a sweet spot for keywords that potential customers will type into Google but are also not so competitive that you can get them ranked by Google. If you get this right or often enough then it will gradually build up traffic to your website and offer.
Step 2 – Then write what’s known as an “SEO optimised article” that contains both the keywords and be useful for humans. In the old days people would stuff in as many keywords as possible. It worked for a while, but Google started penalising such an approach. The best option is to make your keywords about 1 to 2% of the total but also make sense to a human reader too.
Step 3 – Repeat this approach as often as you can as the more seo optimised articles that you create will promote your website in the Google rankings and drive traffic to your site.
My approach.
I do more to not only promote your offer but also make it more appealing to your potential customers.
Step 1 – Keyword research as before
Step 2 – Then research the most asked questions from your customers.
Step 3 – Find a good match and prepare the content that now features the keywords you want to rank for but also the answer to a question your customers want to know. Making you or what you offer the natural answer to their problem.
Step 4 – Then create a social media post based on the customer question and links to the article and you.
Step 5 – Research blog post tags and Twitter and Facebook #hashtags to extend the reach of the blog and social posts.
Step 6 – Make sure the article gets indexed in Google.
Here’s an example in practice.
Step 1 – Keyword research as before
My preferred keyword research tool created a list of these possible keywords to attract customers to a service to create Google My Business listings for local business.

Step 2 – Then research the most asked questions from your customers.
Of the 50 questions I researched this one was the best fit.

Step 3 – Find a good match and prepare the content that now features the keywords you want to rank for but also the answer to a question your customers want to know. Making you or what you offer the natural answer to their problem.
This article was then created. It contains 8 keywords in 741 words which is 1.08% which I’ve highlighted in red in this example.
Title: How to Optimize Your Google My Business Profile for Local SEO
In the realm of digital marketing, optimizing your Google My Business (GMB) profile is paramount for enhancing your local search engine visibility. With the growing importance of local search, having a well-optimized GMB profile can significantly boost your online presence and attract more customers to your business. In this article, we’ll delve into the intricacies of optimizing your GMB profile for local SEO and explore how it can propel your business to new heights.
### Understanding Google Business Search Engine Optimization
Google Business Search Engine Optimization (SEO) revolves around enhancing your business’s visibility on Google’s search engine results pages (SERPs) for local searches. It involves optimizing various elements of your GMB profile to ensure that your business appears prominently when users search for relevant products or services in their vicinity.
### Importance of Google My Business Optimization
Optimizing your GMB profile is crucial for several reasons:
- **Enhanced Visibility:** A well-optimized GMB profile increases your chances of appearing in the local 3-pack, the highly coveted section that showcases the top three local businesses related to a user’s search query.
- **Credibility and Trust:** A complete and accurate GMB profile instills trust in potential customers, signaling that your business is legitimate and reliable.
- **Improved Engagement:** Optimized GMB profiles with compelling images, reviews, and posts attract more clicks, calls, and directions, leading to increased customer engagement.
- **Local SEO Advantage:** Google prioritizes businesses with optimized GMB profiles in local search results, giving you a competitive edge over competitors who neglect this aspect of SEO.
### Strategies for Good Business Profile Optimization
To optimize your GMB profile effectively, consider implementing the following strategies:
- **Claim and Verify Your Listing:** Start by claiming ownership of your GMB listing and verifying it through Google’s verification process. This step is crucial for gaining control over your profile and accessing all available optimization features.
- **Optimize Business Information:** Provide accurate and up-to-date information about your business, including name, address, phone number (NAP), website URL, business hours, and categories. Consistency across all platforms is key to establishing credibility.
- **Utilize Keywords:** Incorporate relevant keywords into your business description, services, and posts to improve your chances of appearing in local search results. Focus on long-tail keywords that reflect users’ search intent.
- **Add High-Quality Photos and Videos:** Visual content plays a crucial role in attracting users’ attention and showcasing your products or services. Upload high-quality photos and videos that highlight your offerings and create a compelling visual narrative.
- **Encourage Customer Reviews:** Positive reviews not only enhance your reputation but also influence local search rankings. Encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews on your GMB profile and respond promptly to both positive and negative feedback.
- **Publish Regular Posts:** Keep your audience engaged by publishing regular posts about upcoming events, promotions, or industry-related news. Posts appear prominently on your GMB profile and can drive traffic to your website or physical location.
- **Monitor Insights and Analytics:** Utilize GMB’s insights and analytics tools to track your profile’s performance, including views, clicks, and engagement metrics. Use this data to refine your optimization strategies and tailor your content to meet users’ needs.
